Flowers

In this series, I focused on the complexity of natural forms, geometric patterns and color, while still incorporating movement.  These pieces contain multiple paper cut outs, layered to utilise the depth of the shadow box more fully.  Linear elements from my two previous collections show up in my use of thread and ribbons of paper. In the three white pieces at the bottom, I used traditional frames instead of shadow boxes.  I layered paper with different levels of opacity to create the illusion of depth.  The backgrounds are translucient, allowing the color of the wall on which the piece is hung to come through, changing the way they look depending on where they are displayed.  Here, they are shown on a white background.  I began this work in September 2010 and continue to work on this theme.
